Television, or our "creative industries" as Atkinson calls it, has a unique place in our lives, particularly when it comes to news and current affairs. Its central role means that it has a duty to reflect the society it serves.
What utter balderdash, and most probably the main reason why television is so desperately poor and unedutaining. Surely its central role is to lead societies with the presentation of future iterations of possible realities and probably virtual realities.Quite obviously are current BBC and television creative directors and boards of governors not up to the job and are as frauds in their positions if they do not agree with that.
