Having said that, the general consensus is that practical applications of quantum computing are still years away from reality. In October, Fujitsu said as much, cautioning that a fault-tolerant system capable of generating reliable results was likely a decade or more away.

Yes, well they would say that wouldn’t they, and so would you too, I’d wager, if in the same position, when a fault-tolerant system capable of generating reliable results is likely and never likely to be a public facility whenever a private utility.

Bravo, Fujitsu. Bravely and stealthily sticking it to the man, and biting the hands that feed IT and AI fodder.

Re: Who Dares Win Wins in Happy New Years

I got to word 62 (I think) of the post proper, "Revolutionary", before realising this was an amanfromMars 1 post. ..... logicalextreme

:-) And what did you think upon that realisation, logicalextreme? Was it surprising and/or disturbing? Did it amuse you? :-)

Methinks in reality though, both practical and virtual, one does best to accept that as stealthy progress having been made ..... by more than just the both of us.

Happy New Year, logicalextreme and El Regers. It is certainly guaranteed to be an unusually novel, and therefore serially disruptive one whenever either competition or opposition is realised to be one of those unknown unknowns systems administrations have been well warned about to be gravely regarded if one fights against it rather than aiding and abetting it. Make your choice, decide your fate and future destiny.

“Reports that say that something hasn’t happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns — the ones we don’t know we don’t know.” ….. “There’s another way to phrase that and that is that the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. It is basically saying the same thing in a different way. Simply because you do not have evidence that something does exist does not mean that you have evidence that it doesn’t exist.” ..... Donald Rumsfeld
