More Troubles of the DUP making?

Correct me if it is wrong, but wasn't there a relative recent time in the past whenever, if an oppressed/repressed/depressed minority group of citizens under constant threat of political and social dispossession felt themselves wronged and ignored, and then protested their plight with a peaceful escalatory civil disobedience to the dismay of the established order, the result was an authoritarian internment without charge or trial leading to decades of paramilitary Troubles ?

I wouldn't like to be thinking that is the current DUP Throw the Toys Out Of the Pram Master Plan but trying to hold all of the other MLAs captive and to ransom with their abstentionist shenanigans is not a good look.

And quite why all the other MLAs accept it, after everyone being recently elected and being paid/receiving state benefits to provide governance, more than suggests they need to grow a pair and start to try to lead events rather than follow a folly on a merry dance. It is not as if they are not guaranteed majority supports it? Wake up and smell the coffee, Honourable Members. Your credibility depends upon it.

Another valid enough question to ask too, is WTF are Security and Secret Intelligence Services doing about it, for whenever it appears to be nothing, is one liable to think they are toothless and practically useless in these new times and spaces ‽ .
